Transportation - A World Wide Panorama

September 20th - 24th Ralph Greene and over 250 photographers, mostly strangers to each other, collaborated on an international photography project. Working in 44 countries around the world they each photographed and prepared a VR panorama on the theme of "transportation". The results show amazing imagination and variety.

If you have never experienced a VR panorama this is an excellent way to find out what it is all about. These computer images spin around 360°, sometimes also straight up and down, allowing you to look in any direction. It is as if you are "virtually" there.

A VR panorama (VR for virtual reality) or immersive image is a specially created computer image that goes all the way around the viewer. It is a revolutionary way to document a particular place and time – the next best thing to being there.

VR panoramas are interactive. You can use the mouse to rotate the panorama, use Shift and Control to zoom in and out. Some VR panoramas are cylinders, 360° around but with limited vertical view. Others are cubic (or spherical), with a view that can go straight up and straight down, as well as all the way around. There are also VR objects, where the viewer rotates or circles around an object of interest

Other examples of Ralph Green's VR photography can be seen here.
